1:1 Learning Update

Please check out the 1:1 Learning blog with updated information as well as questions and answers that have been submitted as a result of parents that have completed the 1:1 Learning iOrientation.

Device Management Update

Part of having approximately 2000 devices in use at any given time during the school year is the ability for tech staff to adequately manage these devices. This includes distributing paid apps, finding lost devices, enforcing age appropriate restrictions, and other management tasks. For the upcoming school year, the technology staff is transitioning our use of one product (JAMF’s JSS/Casper Suite) to a new product (AirWatch).

The biggest difference between these two products is that students will no longer use “Self-Service” and will now use something called the “Catalog”.  School owned devices will have this installed on each iPad before they are distributed to students.  Personally owned devices will need to be enrolled in AirWatch.  More information about this will be sent out over the coming week, and should be completed by the end of September.

To provide some information about 1:1 Learning in the district, we have created an online “iOrientation”.  The full iOrientation should take you approximately 20-25 minutes to complete.  In this iOrientation, you will view a video with an overview of 1:1 Learning in the MURSD, as well as acknowledge receipt of several documents, forms and other information.  At the end of this iOrientation, you will have the opportunity to submit general questions or concerns about 1:1 Learning and the iPads which will be answered in various upcoming blog posts on the 1:1 Learning website.

The iOrientation can be accessed at:  http://mursd-iorientation.weebly.com/

Please view the iOrientation and submit the “Information and Acknowledgement Form” found on the site as soon as possible.  If you experience any technical difficulties with the iOrientation, please do not hesitate to email me.
