Each year, we have a representative from the Worcester County District Attorney’s office come and talk to the kids about online issues such as cyberbulling, social media, and other issues. We had this assembly several weeks ago. Our guidance counselors and teachers also work with students directly on these issues on a regular basis.
Starting today, we will be sending out weekly tidbits of information regarding internet responsibility, using technology effectively and appropriately, and other items for your information. We would encourage you to talk with your students on a regular basis about these issues to stress the importance of digital citizenship and internet safety. We also recommend that you regularly check your child’s phone and other devices to observe online conversations, photos, and usage of apps. The best way to stay abreast of new advances in technology is to become more involved in what your child is experiencing on their technological devices.
For this first weekly installment, we encourage you to view Common Sense Media’s page on “Facebook, Instagram, and Social”. CSM provides a great deal of tips, information, and resources that will help you stay on top of this important issue. Check out their page at: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/social-media
